6th graders worked hard to create meaningful personal shields out of clay. First they crafted lists of things they felt passionate about, and then created their personal shield showing the most important things in their lives in 6th grade. After the first firing they glazed them to reflect even more of their individuality. Check them out!
EMS 7th and 8th grade students were impressive as they carefully designed and carved a square section of a mandala. They then printed it in rotation to form a full round circular mandala. Here are just a few examples of the beautiful work they did.
WOW! Small one inch square erasers sure do make an incredible art tool. Students designed, carved and stamped these by repeatedly turning the square as they printed onto a beautiful rice paper. The results are gorgeous.
Worms or Optical Illusions? Students concentrated on creating some fabulous cross contour line drawings that had lots and lots of movement. Using color pencil, artists added color to create depth and interest.
Students in ART 6 NAILED their still life drawings in our drawing unit. Focused, attentive artists drew the most beautiful pears and vases of flowers.
In ART 7/8, students printed fall leaves onto watercolor paper, and then painted a wash of a complementary color over the print. The third step was to add in a sky or water color surrounding the leaves. The results were stunning and will be on display in the lobby at EMS.
