We added SO MANY layers to these texture paintings! And when it was all said and done, we cut them up into 3.5 inch squares and turned them into EXPLOSION BOOKS! Fabulous, fantastic work from our 6th grade artists!
We inked up papers of all colors and textures, and then cut them into long thin strips. These were then woven together and printed on the printing press, so that the color transferred to a black background. The 7th graders finished these gorgeous face tiles and they are just so deliciously textured and abstract! We recently finished our personal clay shields. These are like a self-portrait in a coat of arms style...featuring all of the things that are important to these student artists at this point in their young lives. Super successful! We have been very busy over here with scrap/inked/textured papers that the 8th graders created for one of their projects last quarter. The 6th graders used strips from these left overs and created a small weaving of bright, colorful and textured paper strips. We then rolled these through the printing press using black paper, and pulled a print. The result was a fabulous print - mimicking the rich colors of the original weaving. They are stunning to say the least.
After examining the work of Vermont artist, Sabra Field, EMS student artists inked up and textured assorted papers with water soluble printing ink. These papers were then cut up and used for layered collages showing a variety of landscape settings. Background, middle ground and foreground were featured in these collages. These collages were then layered with damp paper and run through the printing press to create these prints. It was our first time using the press that was so graciously donated to the EMS art room. Check out these creepy black and white charcoal portraits drawn by our spooky 7th graders! |
